Pablo Lapuerta

Dr. Lapuerta is a biotech leader with over 25 years of experience in drug development. He successfully shepherded multiple drugs through development to approval, consulted small and large biotech organizations, and founded his own biotech company.

He previously spent 13 years at Bristol-Myers Squibb, rising to the position of Vice President in clinical development. He spent 10 years at Lexicon Pharmaceuticals as Chief Medical Officer, introduced investigational medicines into clinical trials, and gained product approvals. He is founder and CEO of 4M Therapeutics, pursuing next-generation treatments for central nervous system disorders.

He graduated from Harvard College summa cum laude and obtained his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at UNC-Chapel Hill and a postdoctoral neuroscience fellowship at UCLA. He also served as an Assistant Professor at USC School of Medicine and an adjunct faculty member at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Dr. Lapuerta has over 100 publications that include contributions to both the New England Journal of Medicine and the Wall Street Journal. He has in-depth experience in clinical development, regulatory affairs, biostatistics, and health economics. He has worked in therapeutic areas including gastroenterology, cardiology, endocrinology, immunology, oncology, and neuroscience. He applies this breadth of experience to guide biotech companies toward clinical and commercial viability.
